Who We Are
Conservation Works was founded in November, 2004, by John Cleese (who has a particular passion for well run small zoos), to receive occasional donations for distribution to projects that reverse the decline of critically endangered species.
Simon Hicks and Karen Hayes come from a background in conservation and have worked together as a consultancy, Hicks & Hayes, for five years ‘developing opportunities for conservation’, while refining their vision for a different sort of charity.
Their driving motivation is to find cost efficient ways to reverse the decline of species while creating a knowledge base that evaluates, analyses and informs ‘what works’ in conservation.
