Martin Bralsford
Martin Bralsford obtained a masters degree at the London Business School and is a Chartered Accountant. He holds a number of Board appointments, including the National Motor Museum Trading Ltd, Beaulieu. He has been a Trustee of a number of charities, including Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, of which he was twice Chairman. He brings entrepreneurial and business acumen to Conservation Works.
John Cleese
John Cleese was educated at Clifton College, Bristol, and Cambridge. He met Gerald Durrell in the 60's when visiting Jersey with the Monty Python team. He returned to Durrell Wildlife to work on filming and fundraising projects and began to ponder the concept of a 'Michelin Guide' for conservation projects, which, with the remuneration from "a publicity job", finally led to the founding of Conservation Works on his 65th birthday. John brings an intense curiosity and concern to the task of saving species from extinction.
Karen Hayes
Karen Hayes has a degree in zoology from Trinity College Dublin and an MBA from the University of Cambridge Business School. Karen specializes in identifying and developing cross-sectoral partnerships that make a genuine contribution to conservation and social development, particularly those that engage the private sector.
Simon Hicks
Simon Hicks began a career in conservation in 1969, achieving Director of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers by 1974. He joined Durrell Wildlife Preservation Trust in 1976 where he remained as Trust Secretary and Development Director until 1998. A working association with John Cleese and an MSc in Responsibility in (Conservation) Practice led to the consolidation of his ideas and experience in Conservation Works, which he directs.
John Jeffrey
John Jeffrey was a Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, including in Zambia where he managed 6 offices, returning to the UK in 1984 to be Managing Partner of the firm's offices in the North of England - Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle. Before retiring he was the Senior Partner in Poland building up a practice for 5 years. John is our Treasurer and keeps financial records.
Martin Davies Jones
Martin Davies Jones was educated at Clifton College, Bristol, and Cambridge. His career was in law as a Solicitor. He is Chairman of Trustees of Bristol and Clifton Zoological Society and a director of National Wildlife Conservation Park Limited. Martin chairs the board and watches over the Trust's legal position and needs.
